Windows 10 End of Life

On October 14, 2025, Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10.  This means the operating system will no longer receive security updates, technical assistance, or software updates from Microsoft. While your Windows 10 devices will continue to function, the absence of these critical updates could expose your systems to security vulnerabilities and compliance issues.

Microsoft recommends transitioning to Windows 11 for enhanced security, productivity, and access to the latest features. This upgrade can be straightforward if your current hardware meets the system requirements.

For organisations needing more time to transition, ESUs are available for Windows 10 in 12-month increments for up to three years after the EOL date.  This is a paid subscription service that provides critical security updates.

If your existing devices do not meet Windows 11’s hardware requirements, consider investing in new PCs that come pre-installed with Windows 11. Modern hardware will ensure compatibility and provide a better user experience. 

Taking a structured approach is essential to ensure the transition goes smoothly. 

• Conduct a comprehensive inventory of all devices running Windows 10.
• Evaluate hardware specifications to determine compatibility with Windows 11.

• For devices not meeting requirements, plan for replacement or consider ESUs as a temporary measure.

• Continuously monitor systems post-upgrade for any issues.
• Offer ongoing support to employees during the transition period.
